Mikl\u00f3s Pfisterer was born in Pest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1914-1918<\/strong> His father in the first world war was in frontline service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1916<\/strong> His beloved grandfather died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1919-1926<\/strong> He studied at Werb\u0151czy Istv\u00e1n High School (today it called Pet\u0151fi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was the notary of the Congregatio Mariana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1925<\/strong> In the Holy Year he went on pilgrimage with his parents: Venice, Rome, Florence, Assisi, Napoly, Pompei<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1926 <\/strong>With his essay <em>The gipsy\u2019s figure in hungarian literature<\/em> he won the national literature competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His teacher L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Vajth\u00f3 invites him to the <em>Napkelet<\/em> journal editors ofiice. He picks up Szentkuthy as his writer name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1926-1931<\/strong> He studied at P\u00e1zm\u00e1ny P\u00e9ter University, he became a teacher with english, french and hungarian major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1927-1929<\/strong> His articles are regularly published in Napkelet. He formed frienship with Antal Szerb, G\u00e1bor Hal\u00e1sz, B\u00e9la Hamvas and Dezs\u0151 Kerecs\u00e9nyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1928<\/strong> At a university seminar he met D\u00f3ra Eppinger, his future wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Emil Gr\u00f3sz operates his eyes, to get rid of his squint eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He went on a long european cruise with his father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He started to write his big novel <em>Prae<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1929 <\/strong>He worked on his doctoral dissertation, which is called: <em>The relation of reality and irreality in Ben Jonson\u2019s classical naturalism<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1931<\/strong>. October 19. He married D\u00f3ra Eppinger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1931-1932<\/strong> He got a one year scholarhip in Englang to develop his dissertation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1931<\/strong> <em>The relation of reality and irreality in Ben Jonson\u2019s classical naturalism<\/em> is published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1932<\/strong> October 8. His daughter Marion Pfisterer is born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He formed friendship with the writer L\u00e1szl\u00f3 N\u00e9meth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The M\u00e1ria Hercz love begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1932-1939<\/strong> He was a substitute teacher in the Barcsay street Mad\u00e1ch High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1934 <\/strong>He published his first big novel <em>Prae<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1935<\/strong> He published <em>Towards the One and Only Metaphore<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1935-1936<\/strong> He won a tender to attend a 3-4 week long cruise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1936<\/strong> He was the founding member of Kelemen Mikes Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>V\u00e1lasz<\/em> journal publishes his works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He published <em>Chapter on Love<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1937<\/strong> Trip to Italy with Istv\u00e1n S\u0151t\u00e9r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He sees the Tintoretto exhibition. The plan for Saint Orpheus\u2019 Breviarium is born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He meets his another great love Betta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1938<\/strong> He slapped one of his student, and becuse of that he got fired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He published a call for his upcoming novel St. Orpreus Breviary. The <em>Marginalia on Casanova<\/em> gets published, the first piece of the Black Orpheus Notebooks. The novel was banned by the hungarian authorities because of defamation of religion and public indecency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second part of the Orpheus Notebooks the Black Renaissance published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1938-1948<\/strong> He teaches at the \u00c1rp\u00e1d High Scool in \u00d3buda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1940<\/strong> In the Orpheus Notebook series he published <em>Escorial<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1941<\/strong> He published the next two Orpheus books <em>Europa Minor<\/em> and <em>Cynthia<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His articles are regularly published in <em>Magyar Csillag<\/em> journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his <em>Myth\u2019s myth<\/em> essay he attacks K\u00e1roly Ker\u00e9nyi mythology proffessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1941-1945<\/strong> His articles are regularly published in <em>Magyar Csillag<\/em>, <em>Ez\u00fcstkor <\/em>and <em>Magyarok <\/em>journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1942<\/strong> The 6th Orpheus notebook <em>Confession and puppetry<\/em> is published. After this book there is a 31 year gap till the next one in the St. Orpheus Breviary cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1943<\/strong> He meets his girlfriend Magda S\u00e1rtory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1944-1945<\/strong> In the last stage of WW II. he served in Buda Castle as a air defense commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1945-1948<\/strong> His articles are regularly published in journals <em>V\u00e1lasz<\/em> and <em>Magyarok<\/em>. He writes radio plays, and gives lectures at free univerity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1946<\/strong> May 9. He moved to XII. district Szil\u00e1gyi Erzs\u00e9bet alley 28. 1th floor, he lived there until his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1947<\/strong> His work awarded with Baumgarten Award. He got a one year scholarship to England, he went to London with his wife. The purpose of his journey is to set up a hungarian cultural house in England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His daughter Marion went to Switzerland to study. (Marion stays abroad, courently she lives in Italy.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1948<\/strong> The hungarian state withdraws the license of his England stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While he is abroad he gets fired from \u00c1rp\u00e1d High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1949-1958<\/strong> High scool teacher at Kossuth Lajos Technical School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1951<\/strong> He suffers big losses: his love Betta gets deported, his friend Mikl\u00f3s T\u00f3th gets hanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1952-1956<\/strong> He lives from his translations. He often visited Magda S\u00e1rtory at G\u00e1nt. Later on Magda lived with them until her death in 1978.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1954.<\/strong> November 4. His father died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1956<\/strong>. February 18. His monther died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1957<\/strong> Divertimento gets published, it\u2019s his first work that was asked by a publisher, and gets printed by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1957-1967<\/strong> He published his Biography fantasia novels about Mozart, Haydn, D\u00fcrer, Goethe and H\u00e4ndel. He later wanted to publis those five novels in one with the title: <em>Biography in masks<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1958<\/strong> He retiers from teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1958-1988<\/strong> He lives only for his works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1966<\/strong> <em>Angelic Gigi<\/em> is puplished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1967<\/strong> For his 60th birthday PEN Club holds a party. Istv\u00e1n Vas\u2019 speach is crucial for his reputation as a writer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 21th Marion\u2019s son is born, Nicola Francesco Filippo Legnani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1972<\/strong> <em>II. Sylvester\u2019s second life<\/em> is published by Magvet\u0151 Publisher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1973<\/strong> After a 31 year break the St. Orpheus Breviary is published in two volume. The edition contains the 6 Black Orpheus Notebooks and <em>II. Sylvester\u2019s second life<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1974<\/strong> The parisian Magyar M\u0171hely published a Szentkuthy special volume. His tranlation of James Joyce Ulysses published by Eur\u00f3pa Publisher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Canonized despair<\/em> the 8th part of the St. Orpheus Breviary published in a III. volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1974-1978<\/strong> He suffers from serious depression, because of that he can\u2019t write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1975<\/strong> March 21. Eur\u00f3pa Publisher awarded him for his James Joyce Ulysess tranlation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1977<\/strong> He got a J\u00f3zsef Attila Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1ria Tompa (maiden name: M\u00fcntzberger) meets the family. She became Szentkuthy\u2019s editor. She edited 7 books in Szentkuthy\u2019s life, and 16 books after the writer\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1978<\/strong> For his 70th birhday he got a state award for his works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the summer he is hospitalized with pneumonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1979<\/strong> His grandson picks up the name Pfisterer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1980<\/strong> The second edition of Prae is published. It was chaptered by Maria Tompa, instructed by Szentkuthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1982<\/strong> He got the F\u00fcst Mil\u00e1n Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1983 <\/strong>January 6. \u2013 May 7. L\u00f3r\u00e1nd Kabdeb\u00f3 makes a life\u2019s work interview with him for Pet\u0151fi Literarture Museum. The title is: Frivolity and confession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>October For his 75th birthday they held an event at Kossuth Club. He talked with Gy\u00f6rgy Somly\u00f3 poet, M\u00e1rta Pardavi-Horv\u00e1th physicist and Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Vik\u00e1r psychiatrist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>November 10. He held a lecture with G\u00e1bor Tolnai, Ferenc Tak\u00e1cs about James Joyce at E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1984<\/strong> The IX. part of St. Orpreus Breviary the <em>Bloody ass<\/em> published, edited M\u00e1ria Tompa under Szentkuthy\u2019s instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He got the D\u00e9ry Tibor Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magvet\u0151 Publisher awarded him for the <em>Bloody ass.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second edition of <em>Chapter on Love<\/em> is published by Sz\u00e9pirodalmi Publisher. L\u00f3r\u00e1nt Kabdeb\u00f3 in his review said that this is the most modern book of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1985<\/strong> <em>Towards the One and Only Metaphore<\/em> second edition by Sz\u00e9pirodalmi Publisher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Testament of the muse\u2019s<\/em> the extended version of <em>Definition\u2019s and roles<\/em> is also published by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1986 <\/strong>June Twelve hour long interview got recorded by Dial\u00f3g Film Studio. Ordered by And\u00e1rs Jeles. Interviewer P\u00e1l R\u00e9z.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1987<\/strong> His manuscrips got transfered from National Sz\u00e9ch\u00e9nyi Library to Pet\u0151fi Literature Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1988<\/strong> <em>Frivolity and confession<\/em> life work\u2019s interview book published, edited by Maria Tompa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He got a Kossuth Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hungarian Radio awarded him for his James Joyce Ulysess traslation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His 80th birthday was celebrated by his family, friends and the literary life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>June 18.
